On page 5, Doc asks Marty why he keeps calling him "Doc",
saying, "I thought you were talking like Bugs Bunny." Bugs
is, of course, a world famous character from Warner
Brothers' well-known Looney Tunes cartoons. He popularized
the phrase, "What's up, doc?"
Doc seems to have amnesia for unknown reasons. The last
thing he recalls is being chased by men in black. Men in
black have long been rumored to be governmental agents who
harass and intimidate witnesses who've had UFO sightings or
alien abduction events, usually in the United States, though
some similar stories are sometimes heard from other
countries as well.
On page 8, Marty drives past Red, the homeless man seen in
Back to the Future
and
Back to the Future Part II.
On page 9, the ledge of the clock tower is not drawn broken
as it should be.
On page 10, George and Lorraine are discussing Marty's
recent unusual behavior between themselves and George
suggests that maybe Betty can recommend a therapist, to
which Lorraine objects, "Betty's not crazy--why would she
know who Marty should see?" It's not revealed who this Betty
is. Marty's girlfriend Jennifer has two Betty's in her family, her mother
(according to Back to the
Future: The Game) and her paternal grandmother
(according to the animated series).
When George hears an intruder in the house, he goes to
investigate, shouting, "Whoever's there--you should know I'm
pretty good at confrontations!" This is a reversal of his
reluctance in
Back to the Future,
when he told Marty, "I'm afraid I'm just not very good at
confrontations."
Doc's crashed steam car has been towed to the lot of Lee
Bros. Towing and Repair in Hill Valley. Of course, this is a
fictitious tow company.
Jack, the employee at Lee Bros., tells Jennifer and Marty
that he's already got a buyer for Doc's weird little car,
but they can have it back for $300. But, I don't think a
towing/wrecking business would have the right to sell an
abandoned vehicle the same day they picked it up! There
would be some legally stipulated number of days before it
was considered fully abandoned by the owner.
On page 17, Needles is said to enjoy listening to the Red
Hot Chili Peppers. Needles was portrayed by Flea, the
bassist of the Red Hot Chili Peppers in
Back to the Future Part II
and
Back to the Future
Part III!
Needles' truck here seems to be the same one he drove in
Back to the Future
Part III (a 1978 Ford F-150 Regular Cab 4X4),
but the headlights are round and should be square.
Unanswered Questions
Who wanted to purchase the steam car from the junk yard? Did
they think they were just purchasing an antique or did they
know it was more than it seemed?
